Everything about HoodPay
HoodPay lets you send any Robinhood Chain token or tokenized stock straight to an X @username, no wallet address needed. The recipient verifies their X account, adds a Robinhood Chain wallet, and the tokens or stock land in it.
Overview
HoodPay is a social gifting layer for Robinhood Chain. Instead of asking someone for a 42-character wallet address, you send tokens to the handle you already know them by. Gifts are public, shareable moments a way to onboard friends into a community through ownership instead of ads.
It is not an exchange and not a trading venue. HoodPay never quotes prices, never routes swaps and never takes custody of anything beyond the gift itself while it waits to be claimed.
No address needed
Send to @handle. The recipient supplies a wallet later.
Escrowed until claimed
Tokens sit in a HoodPay escrow wallet.
Public by default
Every gift gets a shareable claim link and appears in Activity.
How it works
- Connect a wallet. HoodPay reads the ERC-20 balances of the connected wallet and shows only tokens you actually hold.
- Pick a token, amount and X handle. Add an optional note it shows up on the gift card and the claim page.
- Sign one transfer. The tokens move from your wallet into the HoodPay escrow wallet. Nothing else is signed.
- The recipient verifies X. They sign in with X; HoodPay checks the handle matches the one on the gift exactly.
- They add a Robinhood Chain wallet. Escrow releases the exact gift amount to that address on-chain and the gift is marked claimed.
Sending a gift
Sending requires a connected Robinhood Chain wallet, MetaMask, Robinhood Wallet, Rainbow, Trust, Coinbase Wallet or any other WalletConnect-compatible wallet. Token selection is intentionally gated behind connection, HoodPay does not present a catalog of tokens to buy, only what is already in your balance.
You need a small amount of ETH for Robinhood Chain gas. That is an ordinary network cost, not a HoodPay charge.
After signing you get a claim link. Share it with the recipient or just tag them, the gift is discoverable from the Activity feed by handle either way.
Claiming a gift
Anyone can open a claim link, but only the X account named on the gift can claim it. Verification uses X OAuth 2.0 with PKCE and requests the minimum scope needed to read your username, HoodPay cannot post, follow, read DMs or see your email.
If you sign in with the wrong account, the claim page says so and offers to re-verify as the correct handle. Once verified, paste or connect a 0x address; the release transaction is submitted by the escrow and the transaction hash is shown so you can confirm it on Blockscout.
Claims are idempotent: repeated attempts on the same gift cannot release funds twice, and a gift can only ever be in one of held, claimed or refunded states.
Escrow contract & custody
Between sending and claiming, tokens live in the HoodPay escrow wallet on Robinhood Chain mainnet. The escrow key lives only on the server; it is never exposed to the browser, and every release is authorized by a server function after handle verification succeeds.
Every deposit and release is an ordinary on-chain transfer, so the escrow wallet's full history is publicly auditable on Blockscout. Balances, held vs. released totals and current holdings are summarized on the escrow transparency view.
Gifts are not refundable. Once you send, the tokens are locked in escrow for that handle and stay held indefinitely until the recipient verifies and claims them. Double-check the handle before sending.
Tokens, stocks & data
Metadata for tokens and tokenized stocks, name, symbol, logo, decimals and price, is read live from Robinhood Chain and the Blockscout indexer and cached server-side so pages stay fast. If an asset has no logo published onchain, HoodPay falls back to a generated ticker mark.
Trending on HoodPay is native: rankings are driven by how many gifts a token has received on HoodPay, not by market cap or volume elsewhere. The same is true for the leaderboards, top tokens, top gifters and most-gifted accounts all come from HoodPay activity.
Sending stocks
Robinhood Chain carries tokenized stocks alongside ordinary tokens. Because they are ERC-20 assets on the same chain, HoodPay treats them exactly like any other holding: if a tokenized stock sits in your connected wallet, it appears in your balance list and can be gifted to an X @username.
Sending a stock works the same way as sending a token. Pick the stock, choose a whole or fractional amount, type the recipient's handle, add a note, and sign one transfer into escrow. The recipient verifies their X account, adds a Robinhood Chain wallet, and escrow releases the exact amount on-chain.
A gifted stock is the on-chain tokenized asset on Robinhood Chain, not a brokerage account position, and HoodPay is not affiliated with or endorsed by Robinhood. Availability of any particular stock depends on what exists on-chain and what your wallet already holds; HoodPay never offers assets for sale and never lists anything you do not own.
Fees & limits
Claiming is free. HoodPay never charges fees.
- No platform fee on sending, no platform fee on claiming, ever.
- Recipients pay nothing to claim, the escrow wallet covers the release transaction.
- Senders only pay the standard Robinhood Chain gas fee for their own transfer.
- Gifts are limited to what your wallet actually holds, there is no credit, lending or leverage.
Security
HoodPay is built so that only you can authorize movement of your tokens. The app never receives your private keys, seed phrase, or wallet password, and it cannot sign transactions on your behalf. Every transfer is initiated by you and cryptographically signed inside your own wallet.
- HoodPay never asks for your seed phrase or private key.
- The only thing you sign is a token transfer to the escrow wallet address.
- Gift and handle records are not publicly readable from the database; all reads go through server functions.
- X sessions are signed server-side and scoped to reading your username only.
- Wallets may warn on shared preview domains. Use the published HoodPay domain for transactions and always confirm the escrow wallet address before signing.
🔐 Your Security Matters
HoodPay never asks for or stores your wallet private key, seed phrase, or X password. We cannot access your wallet, move your funds, or act on your X account in any way.
- Wallet: Only the wallet owner can sign transactions. Transactions require your explicit approval in your wallet, and HoodPay never sees your signing keys.
- X: Account verification uses X's authorization system. HoodPay cannot access your password, post, follow, send DMs, or control your account.
- Escrow: Tokens are held in escrow until the required verification and release conditions are completed.
- Privacy: HoodPay only requests the permissions and information necessary to provide the service.
- No account takeover: HoodPay does not get access to your wallet or X account. It can never post, trade, withdraw, or change settings for you.
HoodPay is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by X, Robinhood, or any other third party unless explicitly stated.
FAQ
What if the recipient never claims?
The gift stays in escrow for that handle indefinitely. Sends are final, so it cannot be refunded to the sending wallet.
Can I send to someone who has no wallet at all?
Yes, that's the point. They only need a wallet at claim time, and creating one takes a minute.
Can someone impersonate a handle to steal a gift?
No. Claiming requires signing in to that exact X account through X itself; HoodPay compares the verified username against the gift.
Which tokens and stocks are supported?
Any ERC-20 asset held by your wallet on Robinhood Chain can be sent, including tokenized stocks. If it shows in your balance, you can gift it.
Can I change the recipient after sending?
No. A gift is bound to the handle at send time and sends are final, so check the handle carefully before you send.
Ready to gift?
Connect your wallet and send a token to any X @username.
